Inner City Renovation Inc. plays a key role in the renewal of Selkirk Ave.

Winnipeg, MB. June 7, 2005 – Inner City Renovation Inc. a social enterprise that creates employment for low-income Winnipeg Residents plays a key role in revitalizing inner city properties and neighbourhoods. The latest completed project is the commercial property at 510 Selkirk Ave. The building, originally a grocery store and boarded up for the past few years was purchased by the North End Community Renewal Corporation and is now home to the shared offices of the Aboriginal Education Directorate, Employment and Training Services and Partners for Careers. Designed by Prairie Architects the building is the latest commercial renovation to be completed on Selkirk Ave. between Salter and McGregor. It follows the new Urban Circle Training Centre at 519 Selkirk completed in 2004 and precedes the new Winnipeg Education Centre (University of Manitoba) building scheduled for completion this summer.

Inner City Renovation Inc. has been the contractor for many of these rejuvenated properties including the Financial Foundations building at 607 Selkirk (corner of McGregor), the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Building part of the Indian Family Centre at 470 Selkirk and the Upshoppe part of the North End Women’s Centre at 482 Selkirk. “Along Selkirk Ave., a lot of people are complementing our work”, commented Andrew Hall, a ICR employee since start-up. “ People really know what we are doing”.

Inner City Renovation Inc. was founded by Community Ownership Solutions Inc. in 2002 and is owned by six non -profit community organizations. “This enterprise puts people in need on the road to a brighter future, while improving our community” said Marty Donkervoort, General Manager of Community Ownership Solutions. “Inner city Renovation Inc. is helping to make Winnipeg a better place to live for all its residents”.
